Happy Buddha!!

I question what this little Happy Buddha is made of..He sits on a marble base..No bubbles or ridges .He is very smooth and does not appear to be poured from a mold.Note the back signed in Chinese..I also did the pin test, the little pin dot to the back far left!!He was purchased from an antique shop..
He does need to be cleaned, the little dark spots are dust and grime..

Hi Jacque
I think you have yourself a great find there - it appears to b e Ivory- a lot of the Buddhas' of old were made from Ivory and finished off in this manner.
He's a wonderful little example isn't he?? - Mind I am way against ivory poaching but this Buddha would be from many many years ago when poaching wasn't regarded bad- mmm thank goodness times are a changing huh??
love him though Jacque really do
love n hugs bear xoxoxoxoxo

Looks like ivory to me, but I know very little about it. I've always been intrigued by ivory carvings, but agree that the killing of animals for this purpose should not be allowed anymore. I love your little Buddha!

He's wonderful! Something you don't know about me - I collect Buddhas! Really! I have for over 25 years. None are ivory - just various materials. Most are boxed up for lack of space to display them, but I always have at least one out in my room! Yours is a beauty! Glad you got it!

Love your little Budda whether he is ivory or not. But what a great find if he is actually ivory! You are going to have to create a shrine to display your Buddas.

Oh yes, a shrine .. a mixed media shrine ... now that would be a cool mix of old and new!
